How durable are fingerprints?

There are three main types of fingerprints: whorl, loop and arch.

Fingerprints of every person are unique and the same for
the whole life.
The prints are not only at our fingertips, but also on the flanges of our fingers, palms and soles of the feet. The prints are permanent, but can wear out. Builders who often carry something and people who frequently wash their dishes by hand may lose some details print. As soon as they stop these activities, the ridges will grow back and the prints are restored.

Many people have tried to change their fingerprints artificially.
Deep incision leaves a scar that will change fingerprints, but does not make them less unique. Burning fingers by fire or acid can temporarily change fingerprints, but after some time the skin grows back with the same prints.
Thus change of fingerprints is not possible at all.

How are fingerprints formed?
- It’s formed in the womb in the seventh week
- The product of both genes
- Even twins have not identical fingerprints
- Fingerprints remain constant, while the hands and feet grow.
